What's included

  • Shaping hedges and shrubs to a clean, even line
  • Trimming back growth from walkways, windows and fences
  • Cleaning up and removing all clippings
  • Advice on timing for flowering shrubs, so you don't lose next year's blooms

When to trim hedges in Ontario

Most hedges are best trimmed once new growth has hardened in late spring or early summer, with a second light trim in late summer if needed. We avoid heavy cuts late in the fall, when new growth wouldn't have time to toughen up before winter. Flowering shrubs are trimmed right after they bloom.
